Monday, March 31, 2008 || panaromic views of taiwan (recollections 2)

another view of the yeliu...from across the right side, there is the underwater world and aquatic ampitheatre...i believe i had uploaded previous shots of the rock formations, yup, this is the place where most formations can be found...through thousands, maybe millions of years of erosion...

at yeliu...one of the most beautiful seaside i had ever seen...from there, i was able to see lots of the nature rocks formation, and the vast ocean which seems to have no limit...this was taken at the top of a hike to the lighthouse...i remembered the breeze at that time was strong yet cooling...definitely a must visit destination for one...

this was taken at the long shan shi temple...while strolling through the morning streets of taiwan alone, i came across this sky above the temple...had an urge to take some pictures as memories...also went into the temple to view the structures and the serene chanting of the sutra can be heard all over the building itself...quite refreshing though...

this is the moutainous side...a pity the lower part of the mountain is missing, as i never take it...or else one would be able to see the numerous train tracks going through the mountain itself...a wonderful view...

this was one of the shots that i took on top of taipei 101, never publish before...yup, after much stitching here and there, colouration adjustment, these are some of the panoramic shots that i took...the grandest one would be the one i put right on the top of the blog...from that view, viewers can basically see the whole of taipei, from the serene mountainous side to the bustling city side...the clouds at that time were splendid too...with huge and beautiful patterns...
how i wish i am able to share all this moments with someone else...not just alone...haha...

imperial traitor

the third installation of the series of imperial stories...This book follows on from Imperial Assassin. Femke and Reynik are on the run from the Assassins Guild, and as they flea the City, the Assassin Shalidar kills Emperor Surabar. This leaves the pair as fugitives, with one remaining allies, Lord Kempton, named as the successor to Emperor Surabar. Femke and Reynik must find a way to reinstate Lord Kempton for him to assume the throne.
The plot once again follows the two main characters, Femke and Reynik in their attempts to protect Lord Kempton and find the entrance to the Assassins Guild, hidden beneath the Emperor’s Palace. Shalidor’s plans to assume power through his adoptive father It was also nice to have Calvyn return in this book and this brought a more magical presence to the story as Lord Kempton asks the help of Magician’s to defeat the Assassins and break the bond that threatens Reynik.
the characters continued to be strong and enjoyed more revelations about their goals and past creeping up throughout the plot. the author first series is aimed towards the younger reader. However, this series would better suit teenagers, and therefore the descriptive wording takes away some of the possible sharpness of the scenes. Other than that, once again, I really enjoyed this book. The storyline is concluded, a few surprises along the way and left with a possible opening to a new series.

iron lady chef

a hongkong movie with a touch of light comedy about competitive cooking and filial relations...not bad for boring afternoon as the humour and anticipation of the competition results will make the heart beat faster...looks like i'm into food movies, one culinary movie after another...

le grand chef

Le Grand Chef tells an action packed story of two young chefs competing in a cooking contest. The reward is a cooking knife with a very prestigious and significant history attached to it. Brimming with thrilling set pieces, broad humor, mouth-watering food and a skillful interweaving of heartfelt back stories.
The movie tells the story of two chefs who are competing in a cookery tournament to win the title of the “Le Grand Chef”. the grand title, together with upholding the family’s honor is the stuff the two men are after.
the good guy who goes through round after round of concocting delectable dishes from ingredients like fish and beef. The competition also requires the contestants to carve beef and make charcoal .Competition comes in the form of a slimy chef , whom audiences will love to hate.Their personalities are not exactly the most exciting sorts, because every action they take are easily predictable.
Besides these caricatured characters, the real stars are probably the colorfully-created dishes that are showcased during the tournament scenes. The finely-decorated and displayed dishes are not only a feast to the eyes; The innovative spilt screen and comic strip-styled editing also make the spread look invitingly delicious.
There are side plots involving a convicted charcoal maker, a soon-to-be-butchered cow and a grandfather’s strange tempers, which are weaved nicely into the main plot. Although they aren’t the most novel storylines, they shine in their own heartwarming ways, and outdo the main plot in terms of effectiveness. These little stories act like fresh snacks between overly bloating dishes.

Sunday, March 16, 2008 || 对不起, 老师

if there's a teacher who wish is to educate his/her students and neglected her own health, do not see a doctor even when she fall sick, will you think this teacher is great? in this telemovie, we see a teacher who got brain cancer, but in order not to affect her students studies, she continue to teach in classes despite her own difficulties...in the show, she uses her love and concern to change the behaviour of some spoilt students...the plot is really meaningful and touching...it's very relevant to us students, and i strongly recommend it...

flowers that bloom beautifullly...had to capture it...using my l ens!!!

the sesame plant flower, which is one of the oldest oil plant...the oil makes up half the volume of the seed, and it has a distinctive fragrance...it can be eaten together with hamburgers...haha...

this is the soyabean, which is rich in protein...first time seeing upclose with the plant...

the brinjal, also known as the eggplant..it is so called because of the shape of the first variety that english speakers came across...

this is the asparahus plant...haha...

the pepper plant...it originates from india, and were once used as currency during the middle ages...black pepper is produced from half ripe berries, while white pepper is produced from ripe berries with their outer layer remove ( pericarp)... soup prepared using this spice can aid in digestion...

this is the aldabra giant tortoise...it live in shrub vegetation, feeds only on vegetables...estimated to have 100000 left in the wild...it is now being threatened for their edible flesh...

the land crocodile...known as the komodo dragon...these animals are quite rare, so must treasure them...though they look sort of fierce...

the elephants taking a bath besides their own pool...it's so different when one sit under the shelter, just observing the elephants taking a stroll or bathing in the pool, the feelings as compared to in the hectic society...

signposts...i sort of like the designs of this signposts...signposts is like a guide to directions in life...there are many paths that one can take, though each there is a descriptions for each paths, we do not know what lay ahead until we actually took the paths...when is the time when one has to make a decision that involves lots of paths?

where can you find this sign post locally? it can be seen commonly in countries such as australia along the highways, but in singapore, it can be found in the zoo...haha...imagine a kangaroo jumping pass by you when you are crossing a road, that will be interesting though...there's a kangaroo encolsure where close up with the kangaroos is possible...
