Sunday, November 30, 2008 || 钢琴之森

extracted from the movie :（去吧，到森林里去。无论是悲伤的时候还是快乐的时候，那里都有钢琴。被森林里的钢琴培育着的少年，在钢琴指引下不可思议的命运，他天才般的能力觉醒了。）

this movie has plenty of refreshing ambience, and is focused on friendship, character and music. This anime has lots of classical piano pieces so those who are music lovers will certainly enjoy it..

This is a story of Amamiya Shuuhei and his friendship with Ichinose Kai. Amamiya is a child of a well known pianist and he aspires to become a professional pianist too. However, the road leading to a professional pianist is not easy. Thus, he finds himself disliking the piano,having to go for training lessons often. On the other hand, Kai comes from a poor family but he is a genius at playing the piano. Kai doesn't have his own piano but he learned from and plays a piano hidden in the forest. The piano was abandoned years before and it takes a special technique or "characteristic" to play it.. a characteristic Kai possesses. And this is the start of their relationship. The climax is when both characters participate in the renownd piano competition, and the results will determine how strong their relationship is...

Saturday, November 22, 2008 || the anansi boys

i have not read the books written previously by the author, but i like his style of writing, combining the science fiction element with magic mystery...very nice...main character in this book is charlie, who suddenly find himself in a bad situation when he summoned his brother, after his father, the trickster spider superhuman being pass away..

now charlie has to withstand the superhuman brother of his, and when his tolerance has reach its limit, he thought of ways to get rid of his brother...this is when the adventure begin...

Reading Anansi Boys triggered so many thoughts of whether such superhuman beings do exist...I quite enjoyed the story.... the author did an awesome job incorporating the world of Anansi into modern day society.

Friday, November 14, 2008 || Books!

this was a delightful read, a darkly imaginative story.
A little girl named Coraline moves into a new house and discovers a secret netherworld behind a sealed doorway. After narrowly escaping, Coraline's parents become trapped in this world and it is up to her to rescue them.

this was my first time reading a graphic novel, and its by a famous science fiction and fantasy author...yup, the comics are indeed attractive and well drawn, targeted at young teenagers getting a first glance at this genre of stories..well, to my delight, i have found out that this story will be made into a movie...will be looking forward to it...

what the simplest thing that could make you happy? Speaking about simple thing in life, do you consider your dreams the simple things? Dreams simply could mean things you want to do in this life, the only matter to do everything is time. as long as you got the time, you still have chance to do anything you want to do.

what if you dont have this luxury of time?

reading this book maybe can help you to understand the beauty in simple things. the ways to live forever, even after you’re gone.. the boy, name sam, has blood cancer, commonly known as leukemia. He knows that he wont be around for long, and keep a simple diary compiling his simple dreams and hope for those around him...it's a touching book for all readers, because at such a small age of 10, he understands the complexity of an illness, the consequences, that adults would try to avoid most often when the question is being pop up...

The third series of the HIVE stories, escape velocity deals with how Otto and his friends are on a trail to find the missing dr nero, captured by HOPE,the Hostile Operative Prosecution Executive. Never do they know the sinister plan behind all this chase, which is to lure Otto to the trap of Number one, the head of the HIVE order.

Meanwhile Otto is also struggling to cope with new abilities that are starting to manifest themselves. The only way to find Nero and the truth behind the lies is to escape HIVE. Then he just has to break into MI6. The suspense of every adventure was enough to make me read finish the book.

i like panorama photos...it's like a treasure, as not every environment will allow one to take such a photo...this is the view of the southern islands at sunset, had to climb all the way up to kent ridge park to take this photo...a serene view for me...as i sat there till the sunset disappeared...

walk to the southern ridges

this is the alexandra arch, which connects the forest walk to the hort park...it's nice architecture quite attracts me, there was even a couple taking wedding photos on the bridge...at night, lights will be lit up, which is quite nice to watch too...

this is the forest walk, interconnecting bridges that cut across what used to be covered with dense vegetation...trees surround the bridge, so one would be like walking across the forest without the need to bash...there is also another nature trail below the bridge, challenge to those who are adventurous...

this is the Henderson waves, the highest man made overhead bridge in Singapore...the view on the bridge towards the port is simply beautiful...i think i would be nice to see the sunset here...

Natsume Yuujinchou

it's been a while since i completed any animes, so this is the latest anime that i had just finished...

theplot deals with the supernatural but is not the kind that we thought it is, that is hunting the supernatural, or about horror stuffs...

this is about how the main character chance upon a friendship book left behind by his grandmother.he has the ability to see the supernatural, and with this unique skill, he decided to return the names captured in the book to their owners, with the aid of his master cat...

each episode tells a story of a character and this in turn flashes out the main characters, as such this whole series is dotted with interesting and engaging people and spirits. there are certainly life lessons that one can learn in some of the episodes, as instead of humans to humans relationship, we see ghost to human relationships...
