Saturday, July 29, 2006 || putting on the stethoscope : a symposium

just find this interesting, so post it here to share...haha...hmm...today's the annual NUS biomedical quiz, so went to NUS in the morning with fellow school mates...haha...get to know some j1s too...anyway, we were to suppose to prepare for this coming quiz for the past 2 months, as the questions asked were from the medicine syllabus...

well, seeing other prestigious school managed to answer almost all the questions ( which seems totally alien to me basically, except for some that we learnt in school ) left me speechless and held them in awe...how did they managed to do it? haha...anyway, was in the LT 28, which has a very confortable seat, in which the support for the back can be bent to accomodate the amount of pressure you apply to suit the needs...

for the total of 45minutes times 3, i guess almost all the participants were nearly turning into ice cubes...the air con was switch on to full blast, and after a while, you will be able to see people shivering and shaking to heat up the body...maybe the lecturers can use this as a detention to deter students from sleeping during lectures ba....

the catered lunch was delicious though, and though we did not get into the final round, it was indeed a meaningful experience to be exposed to the medical school, how it is like, and the response from other schools to medicine... how the first year, fifth year and the houseman fell about being in this job, which focus more on dealing with people and knowledge on medicine...through the symposium, i did learnt a lot of thoughts provoking ideas...sometimes, we will need to make decisions that test our moral values and what we really have in mind...it's all about proper ethnics...so under certain circumstances, we will just have to accomodate the bad part, and try to excel in the string regions ba...

one quote that i found meaningful from the speakers at the symposium ( i rephrased it) :
academic areas may be important to set the path of entrance into the medical school...but once you embark on this learning journey, more emphasis will be placed on how you deal with the relationships among people...people, a very important factor to consider in all aspects of life...
