the author manages to provide an educational and eye-opening account of a country's political turmoil, Afghanistan, while also developing characters whose heartbreaking struggles and emotional triumphs resonate with readers long after the last page has been turned over. this is a story about a boy name Amir, the privileged son of a wealthy businessman in Kabul, and Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant. Since small, both children had grown up as playing partners,but Amir sometimes faces the problem of whether it is appropriate to accpet Hassan, a servant, as a real friend. Until the day when Amir betrays Hassan, whose loyalty to Amir never waiver, did Amir discover that the story of brotherhood is indeed thicker than any obstabcles. Amir went to Amerrica when the country was in turmoil, and Hassan, upon leaving the family, married and had a child. However, Hassan passed away not long later, leaving his child, Sohrab. Spurred on by childhood guilt, Amir makes the difficult journey to Kabul,to adopt the child.

i like this book very much. it provides a perceptive examination of recent Afghan history and its ramifications in both America and the Middle East, and the result is a complete work of literature that succeeds in exploring the culture of a previously obscure nation that has become a pivot point in the global politics of the new millennium. movie will be coming out in year 2007. will be looking forward to it, and the author's new upcoming book.

one value that i can learn from this book is : To err is human, and forgiveness is hard to come by.
